40

Well - today it has finally came. 40 - I have spent some time today reflecting on life and what and where I am. If only I had a crystal ball to predict the future. It is odd to think that 40 will soon be in the past. It was just yesterday that my parents got their first microwave - not to mention many other gadgets and gizmos- My recent trip home was a great time for reflection and I had a lot of drive time to think. At some points it even seemed a little too much time. I strugle with living in Atlanta - so far from Iowa and my roots. I get going about thinking of the future and how sometimes I keep from rooting here because I am not always sure i want to end up here. It seems so far away but then a hour and a half jet ride and I am back and ready to head back to Atlanta. Strange feelings is all I can say.

I threw myself a birthday party while back in South Dakota and a hand full of friends showed up. It was a good meal and good time catching up. Those friends seem to stick in their through thick and thin. I am having another party this weekend for friends in atlanta. I may have rooted more here than I thought.

I have nothing too profound to say except end with a quote that has been extremely important to me the last couple of years...

Charish your summers - in a life time you only get 80 if you are luck.

Sure puts a perspective on my thoughts and worries.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME..

Back Home

Well, I am back to Atlanta after traveling home for the Holidays. I had a good visit with family and friends. I actually flew into Kansas City because the $153 was hard to turn away from. (compared to $325 in Omaha and Minneapolis and $400 + SiouxFalls) Well- I was disappointed as my car rental was accepted on priceline for $10 aday but after the city fees it came to $28 a day. Oh well - Omaha and Minneapolis were at $21 a day and they would have some fees as well. Ok -- After arriving in Kansas City I set off to Omaha and diverted myself to a back road for a bit and after seeing a feed and seed store - a country suply store and trailers - I realized I was not in the city anymore. I wish I would have taken a picture or two -- Missouri is truely a different world.

Well - my time in SD and IA was spent with friends and family. I truely enjoyed the time and reconnected with many. I visited Santa's Castle in Storm lake ( a favorite for us when we were kids) and brought back another suitcase of stuff. It just seems to keep accumulating. I have to continue to tell myself to stop buying - I don't have room!!. Well - Enjoy the pictures and share with me your holiday experiences - I would love to hear about them.

God Bless the rest of 2007

Movie Review - Namesake

This past weekend I enjoyed a wonderful movie Namesake. It was a good reflection of controversy many nationalities battle in the United States as they come to live in the Melting pot of the world. What cultural traditions to keep, how to live with other religions and ideologies. I would give this movie 4.5 stars out of 5 and encourage everyone to see this move currently on DVD.

Restaurant Review

Dominick's -- ***** FIVE STAR - last night was our second meal at Dominicks and it was a great as the first time. The two meals I have had here are Lasagna and Shrimp pasta caserole. The dining experience was good - but a bit loud(not an intimate setting for a romantic dinner) but everyone in our party had a great meal and great service. I would recommend you check them out at (770) 449-1611 95 S Peachtree St, Norcross -- WOuld love to hear about your experience and if you know any other Italian Restaurants worth checking out - let me know.

Movie Review - Love in the time of Cholera

Ok - this move gets 2 stars in my book -- the story is good but the move is slow and there were several time towards the end I just wanted it to end. It finally did and I left the theator. The scenery was beautiful but I would recommend this for a rental.
